Survivor's Stories

Muxumed was sentenced to 20 years in jail without ever appearing in court. During his arrest, as a scare tactic Muxumed was blind folded, beaten, and forced to dig his own grave. He spent four years in the infamous Jail Ogaden and Bayaxow labour camp. While in Jail Ogaden, Muxumed spent close to two years in solitary confinement in a small bathroom with no windows, he had sewage poured on him, forced to lay out in the sun for hours causing blisters and skin infection, both his arms were broken. Muxumed and other prisoners were forced to stand for hours and were constantly beaten. To this day Muhumed lives with psychological trauma,  severe leg pain, and muscle aches.
