

CHANGE MANAGEMENT TRAINING.
OVS has conducted change management training from 16th to 18th of February 2024. In total 11(4F) OVS team and victim partners senior team participated the training. Of which 9 (3F) of them were from OVS staff and 2(1F) from Hormud Girls organization and Yateem orphan organization. In addition to this the team took leadership and management modules under this training.

Peer to peer for Ethiopian victims advocacy

peer to peer share experience with the other victims of Ethiopia.
The training took place in Yaya village in Sululta district of Oromo Region, and was attended by all local organizations that advocate for victims of violence in some regional states of Ethiopia, such as Somali region victims, Oromo victims, Amhara victims and Tigray victims, and lasted for a week.
The program was coordinated by OHCHR and was part of the training. ICTJ and Ethiopian Human Rights
Bayahow: The aftermath of Jail Ogaden

This is a first of its kind report detailing the experiences of Jail Ogaden prisoners in Bayahow, a forced labour camp, 3 years after its closure. Over 808 ONLF political prisoners were transported from Jigjiga to Bayahow camp in early 2018 to continue their imprisonment under harsh new conditions. Today, survivors are voicing their experiences in battling the physical, psycho-social and economic ramifications of years of imprisonment and calling for justice and accountability. COVID-19 Awareness and Response

OVS members traveled to four districts - Araarso, Dhagaxbuur, Gursum, and Shabelle to raise awareness about COIVD-19 prevention. We worked closely with the Department of Health at the State and District levels, as well as the World Health Organization. We donated face masks, gloves, alcohol, soap, and makeshift washing stations for public use. In collaboration with the district level department of health we engaged in various activities to help raise awareness on how to avoid contracting and or spreading COVID, signs and symptoms of COVID, as well as steps to take if one contracts or suspects they have contracted COVID.

Creation of OVS Sub Offices

OVS main office is currently located in Jigjiga. We expanded our network of victims by creating sub offices in five zones including Jarar, Qorexay, Shabelle, Dollo, and Erar. The purpose of creating these sub offices is to help all victims within the region to get organized, help amplify their voices, and enhance coordination of activities.

Donation of Food to Victims

OVS donated food which consisted of rice, oil, and milk to 21 families in Jigjiga that were among the most needy of the victims.

The following activities were successfully carried out during the reporting period.

Change management training for OVS senior staff and victim partner organization.
OVS has conducted change management training from 16th to 18th of February 2024. In total 11(4F) OVS team and victim partners senior team participated the training. Of which 9 (3F) of them were from OVS staff and 2(1F) from Hormud Girls organization and Yateem orphan organization. In addition to this the team took leadership and management modules under this training.
According to pre-and post-evaluation of the knowledge of the team good progress of management knowledge were recorded. Out of the 10 participants 8 rated very good in their skill of change management and tools.

Training on project cycle management to OVS staff
The training approach demonstrated both theoretical and practical sessions with group work of the project management tools. The training was participated by 10 OVS staff (4F) for 3 days and conducted from 27 to 29th of April 2024 in Jigjiga, Somali region. Participants took the following modules during the sessions. Organizational change management, John Kotter’s 8-step change model, challenges of organizational change management, measuring change success. In addition to the modules several tools were used to improve the practical approaches of change management. Some of the tools were; SWOT matrix tool, change impact assessment tool and change management planning tool.

According to the pretest and post-test of the change management training participants significant improvement has been observed when comparing the two results. An example can be on average 77.5% of the participants lacked project cycle management skills compared to after completion of the course which on average scored 90% responded
lick on the text box to start editing the content.
